Precious Lives Wasted

These are only three of the many children throughout the United States that are abducted, kidnapped and murdered. No one knows except the murderer what fear and pain was instilled in these children before their death.

Amanda Brown was seven years old September 11, 1998 when she was abducted from the bed in which she was sleeping with her mother and a child predator that her mother had met in a bar. When her mother awoke, Amanda was gone as was the child predator. Law Enforcement was notified immediately and a search began. Willie Seth Crain was the guest and suspect. The investigators accumulated enough physical evidence that ultimately gained a conviction for murder. Although Amanda's remains have not been found, Willie Crain sits on Death Row in Florida State Prison. Unfortunately he has been on death row ten years with no sign that his death penalty will be carried out anytime soon. Amanda would have graduated high school last year and become a productive citizen but that was not to be. Willie Crain has a sordid life style and has no business in society.

Jessica Lunsford, was nine years old when she was abducted, raped and murdered by child predator, John Couey. Living with her paternal grandparents and father, was in her bedroom asleep when abducted. Law Enforcement was notified immediately and a search ensued. John Couey, a registered sexual child predator, became a suspect early in the investigation but was able to elude apprehension with the intervention of his family. John Couey was arrested, charged, convicted and is now on Death Row at Florida State Prison.

Coralrose Fullwood, was six years of age when she was abducted and raped September 17, 2006. Her body was found in a vacant lot a couple of blocks from her home. The investigation continued for two years before Patrick DeWayne Murphy, age 27, was arrested. He has been charged with murder, kidnapping and sexual battery on a child and is in the Sarasota County Jail awaiting trial.

Now five year old Haleigh Cummings is missing and no one knows what happened to her. Like the others, she was home and abducted while in the care of an adult. So far all family members are taking lie detector tests, talking to law enforcement and do not have an attorney or spokesperson to represent them. Right now we are praying for Haleigh, her family, and everyone involved in the investigation and search.

It seems that our judicial system is failing when it comes to child predators. They are dangerous people and need to be incarcerated. There are so many cases where a convicted sexual predator is convicted and turned loose back into society by a liberal judge or loophole in the law only to harm another child.

It is time for the public to demand stricter laws and enforcement of those laws.
