HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?
Topics: GeneralI spoke with Roy a couple of days ago and he seemed upbeat. He had been a guest on Bubba the Love Sponge's show and received some feeling that Amanda is not forgotten. Roy like many of the other families that have lost a child, is struggling through each day just to make it. Roy's reason for developing this site is to keep Amanda's memory alive and in the hearts of all that knew her.
He is active with most of the Missing Children's Groups and keeps in contact with other victims families throughout the United States. One dream was to obtain enough contributions through the foundation to to go to a scene or home of the family of a lost or murdered child, giving moral support and help lead them in a positive direction from the loss through the court process. Unfortunately that was not to be. So many children making the news that Amanda soon became just another of many and contributions did not come. Roy has mourned the death of Amanda each day as if is the first. Amanda's murderer sits on death row at Florida State Prison refusing to tell what he did with her body. On September 11, 1998 Amanda was taken and murdered. Her life ended but the life of her murderer has been sustained by the tax payers of Florida. He has lived on death row longer than Amanda lived on this earth. Something is wrong with this picture.
Now, ten years later, the murderer is having an appeal trial. The wounds of the loss of a child, never recovering her body and wondering where she could be is bad enough but now the scum has another shot at getting his sentence reduced or whatever a liberal court may decide.
I received an email from Sylvia stating that Roy is depressed as a result of the upcoming trial/hearing and is having difficulty coping with each day. I will be calling him over this weekend and if you have a message for him, please post it in the comment section at the end of the article and I will post or read it to him when I call. Within the past two weeks Roy has been contacted by two of Amanda's friends who have related their memories of Amanda. This did put a smile on his face.
If you wish to send a card or letter to Roy and Sylvia you may do so by addressing it to: Roy Brown c/o Amanda Brown Foundation, 4305 W. San Luis Street, Tampa, FL 33629.
As the trial date nears and details are learned, it will be posted on this site. We encourage anyone that can, show up at the hearing and show your support for Roy.
