Lunsford could drop suit against Citrus County SO
Topics: NewsTampa, Florida - Mark Lunsford is changing his tune about the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. His lawyer appeared on the Bubba the Love Sponge morning show on Thursday and announced they will not sue the sheriff’s office.
They had filed an “intent to sue” against the sheriff’s office because Lunsford believed the department botched the investigation and could have found his daughter Jessica sooner.
As part of the agreement, Bubba the Love Sponge agreed to lay off Lunsford saying, “We got the lawsuit thrown out and for that I will shut up about Mark Lunsford.”
Bubba also says that by putting the lawsuit talk aside, it frees Citrus Sheriff Jeff Dawsy to talk openly about the investigation and initiate change in the agency, should another child go missing.
The Sheriff’s Office says it has not yet been officially notified of this change by Lunsford or his attorneys, but they welcome the message.
"We're relieved that no one will have to relive the pain of this event again in a court setting," said Sheriff Dawsy in a statement. "Of course, we are still confident in our investigation and how we handled it."
