A LETTER TO AMANDA

Topics: General

Dearest Amanda,
We awoke this morning hoping that this had been a terrible nightmare. It is your seventeenth birthday and instead of our beautiful daughter ready to celebrate the day, the quiet of the house hurts our ears. Your birthday reminds of us of all that you have been deprived. No hanging out with friends. No sleep over where you sit up all night giggling about the boys and clothes; No text messaging everyone that you know who has a cell phone. No hearing, “Love you” before hanging up the phone. Loud music, going to the beach with friends and keeping a diary are all lost. No there won’t be any cake, decorations or friends dropping by to celebrate but there will be eyes filled tears trying to imagine what might have been. You were only seven years old when we lost you. Ten years of memories divided into tears and smiles; ten years of wondering why and we will never know the reason.
In just a few weeks you should be preparing for your school prom and graduation, excited about your date. You and Sylvia should be shopping for the perfect dress or gown, matching shoes, and what to do with your hair. I would bet that you wouldn’t let me comb it, like you used to do. You used sit on my lap and that was our private time for chatting while I combed your hair. Every time I see a limousine I will picture you inside; every time I hear a group of girls giggle I look to see if you are there.
Your birthday my precious Amanda, reminds us of the tragic loss and the pain never leaves. We are unable to hold you in our arms but you are in our hearts and mind. We love you and miss you so much.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Amanda!
Love,
Dad, Sylvia & Family

Dear Sylvia and Roy,

My heart went out to you as I watched you standing on the causeway. Missing your child that you will never be able to hold in you arms again.

As you know as feel your hurt and I wish I could say it will get easier, But, it doesn't. I will keep you in my pray's.

Love to all,
Reneau and Crystal
You are in my prays and I miss you dearly
