Suspect apologizes to father of teen murder victim
Topics: GeneralSt. Petersburg, Florida-The parents of 17-year-old Jesse O'Hara look for answers wanting to know why their son was murdered. They say Jesse was a boy who loved making everyone else happy. They call his death senseless, “I want to look in the face of the man who shot my son.”
18-year-old Clinton Davies is charged with second degree murder. He was supposed to be one of Jesse's friends. During his first appearance in court. Davies apologized to Jesse's father, Eric Wilson, “Let him know that I'm sorry. He'll know, he'll know.”
According to deputies, Jesse was shot multiple times in a friend's car near 48th Street and 56th Avenue North. His father believes the motive was robbery, “I think it was because Jesse had a little bit, maybe $100 on him he just cashed a check.” Back at home, Eric and Jesse's girlfriend Amy showed us how everyone was remembering the fun loving teen, “Jesse was popular at high school, Bay Walk, anywhere he showed up Jesse was the life of the party. If you weren't smiling you better start because Jesse's gonna be on ya.” Jesse was going to be a senior at Bayside. Many wrote heartbreaking messages on his MySpace account. Amy says he loved being around people, “I think everyone's going to keep his name going tell the stories, just keep him alive as much as we can.” High School
Meanwhile Eric thinks it's important for parents to tell their kids how much they love them everyday. He says three simple words can make a big difference in life, especially when faced with death, “I got to hear them at 11:55 PM Thursday evening for the last time. Dad I love you I'll see ya in the morning you have a good day tomorrow. At 1:10 AM my son's life was gone."
Jesse's funeral takes place on Tuesday, July 31st at Mohn Funeral Home at 9700 Seminole Blvd. The viewing starts at 6 PM, services take place at 7 PM.
