Three arrests in fatal shooting of child
Topics:Bradenton, Florida - The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has three suspects in custody and have charged them with homicide in connection with last night’s fatal shooting of 9-year-old Stacy Williams III.
Further details will be released at a news conference this morning at 11:00 a.m.
9-year-old Stacy Williams III was shot in the back of the head as he was running away from an altercation. Investigators do not believe Williams was involved but was just playing in the area.
t happened around 8:30 Monday night in the 3300 block of 5th Street East. As crime scene tape crisscrossed the scene, evidence technicians took pictures of a scene that included blood and two abandoned bicycles. Gang graffiti could be seen on a wooden fence nearby and was also sprayed spainted on an apartment complex wall.
Witness statements, according to detectives, are conflicting. Some say the shooting stemmed from some type of fight and led to shots being fired from two vehicles, a Cadillac and a Sebring.
Detectives are going door to door to interview people in the area about what they may have seen or heard.
