TEMPLE TERRACE - Police on Friday charged 65-year-old Eugene Gary Conklin with 804 counts of possession of child pornography, said Temple Terrace police spokesman Mike Dunn.
On Jan. 12, Conklin’s wife contacted police and said she’d seen him downloading what she believed to be child pornography from the Internet, Dunn said.
Later that day, police seized the home’s computers. The forensics analysis was completed on Friday, with investigators finding 804 illegal images, Dunn said.
Conklin was arrested at his home at 11850 Sophia Dr., No. 5302, and remained in Orient Road Jail late Friday with bail set at $1.6 million.
What is going on folks? Is Florida, Tampa filled with these sick people more so than the rest of the United States or are we more cognizant of what is going on in our society? It would seem that an individulal that reads the newspaper and watches TV would notice that people who are involved with child pornography or molest children are being caught daily. I guess, as any other sickness, it is difficult to realize the effect it is having on one's self. How difficult it must have been for the wife to expose her husband. Our heartfelt thanks go out to her for the decision and may she find peace, as this has to be a sad day in her life also.
