Man Charged With Felony Child Neglect
Topics: NewsTAMPA - A man was charged with felony child neglect after two young children he was babysitting disappeared from an apartment, police said.
Jose Ramon Soto, 28, of Tampa, fell asleep for about an hour while he was babysitting seven children, including two of his own, police said. The children's ages ranged from 3 to 13.
The older children left to play basketball and didn't lock the door to the apartment, 1526 River Lane, Apt. L200. Police said a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old left the apartment through the open door and were seen wandering around the complex.
Soto was being held at the Orient Road Jail late Sunday with bail set at $2,000.
