Broward Sheriff's Office detectives and citizen volunteers canvassed a Deerfield Beach neighborhood Monday afternoon, hoping to learn more about the shooting death of an 18-year-old resident.
Yndry Cadet, a homeless teen from Haiti, was gunned down Jan. 6 in front of the American Legion on Southwest First Terrace.
More than two weeks later, deputies say they still have no suspects. Even leads are scarce.
So on Monday, nearly a dozen members of the BSO Citizen Observer Patrol went door to door in the neighborhood where Cadet lived and died. The volunteers distributed fliers and asked for the public's help.
''Sometimes, in cases like this, the best thing to do is come back to the scene of the crime and knock on doors,'' said Hugh Graf, a BSO spokesman. ``We're reminding people that this is their neighborhood and that they can make a difference.''
Anyone with information on Cadet's death is urged to call Crimestoppers at 954-493-8477.
