Man Pleads Not Guilty To Child Porn Charges

NORTH PORT - The father of slain North Port girl Coralrose Fullwood has pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges, his attorney said Monday.

Dale Fullwood, 46, was jailed last month on two counts of possession of child pornography after detectives said they found on his laptop video files of a young girl being raped.

Adam Tebrugge, the public defender appointed to represent Fullwood, said now that his client has pleaded not guilty, he can begin the discovery process, which allows him to review evidence against Fullwood.

"There is usually a lot more to a situation than is reported in a very brief initial police report," Tebrugge said.

During questioning the day the 6-year-old was found dead Sept. 17 in a wooded area two blocks from her family's Calabash Lane home, North Port police asked Fullwood if he had ever downloaded child pornography. Fullwood admitted he had, the arrest affidavit states.

Tebrugge said he plans to look into whether Fullwood was fully aware of his rights when he reportedly told detectives about the porn.

Fullwood was arrested Oct. 11.

Police have not named any suspects in the homicide case but insist they have not run out of leads.

In a bail reduction hearing last month, an assistant state attorney said more evidence of child pornography was found on Fullwood's computer, but no additional charges had been filed Monday.

Capt. Robert Estrada, a spokesman for the North Port Police Department, said investigators are still examining Fullwood's computer.

Fullwood has been held since his arrest at Sarasota County jail with bail set at $50,000, an amount Tebrugge said is illegal and unconstitutional.

Tebrugge said he hopes to appeal the bail amount this week.
